In trying to teach a 17 month old baby about the dangers of fire, a man puts the baby in the over which results in 2nd and 3rd degree burns. Now he’s going to jail.
REDWOOD CITY, Calif. A Daly City man found guilty of throwing his 17-month-old son onto a hot oven rack, which caused second and third-degree burns, was sentenced on Friday to a year in county jail and five years supervised probation.
Gregory Colver, 21, was convicted on the 18th of July for one felony count of child endangerment and one felony count of cruelty to a child, with the special enhancement of causing great bodily injury. He looks like an idiot too doesn’t he?
He was accused of holding his son inside a hot oven and suspending him over the oven rack on Dec. 28, 2010 in a failed attempt to teach him about the dangers of hot surfaces.
The doctors did not guy their original story of the baby accidentally falling into the oven and the police didn’t buy it either.
Colver was placed under arrest on Dec. 30, and allegedly confessed to police that he had been trying to teach his son a lesson by holding him inside the oven. He later retracted the confession.
